Join Rabbi Jacobs to explore famous aggadic (stories) rabbinic midrashim as well as current rabbinic midrashic interpretations of Torah. For thousands of years midrash has served as a rabbinic tool to creatively understand the spaces between Torah text and to give voice to the voiceless in our tradition. From Abraham smashing the idols to tales of the first human being androgynous, rabbis have creatively woven tales that have long influenced our reading of Torah. Together we will explore the basic tools of midrash, some classic midrashim, current feminist midrashim, and even try to write our own midrashim on the Torah. Bring your own Lunch.
