Tuition & Enrollment

Tuition rates for the 2026–2027 school year are outlined below. For questions about registration or to begin the enrollment process, please contact gabby@tbsmb.org.

Because jLAB is an extension of Temple Beth Sholom’s mission and community, families must be members in good standing of the congregation to enroll their children in jLAB.

To become a member:

  • Visit our Membership Page to learn more and complete your membership form.
  • If you are new to the community or have questions about membership, contact our Membership Director, Craig Berko

We look forward to welcoming your family into our vibrant, inclusive, and joyful Jewish community.

Grades K-9                              $650

Grade 10 Confirmation           $1400

*The Confirmation curriculum is a program of American Jewish University; tuition is set by AJU and includes three college credits.

Tuition payments can be made in full at the time of enrollment. Installment plans may be arranged by contacting Iris Amador in our Finance Department.

We are committed to making Jewish education accessible to every family. Financial assistance is available through the Morah Shula Ben-David Scholarship Fund. We recognize the financial demands of raising a family and strive to ensure that cost is never a barrier to participation. Families are encouraged to reach out to Barb Shimansky confidentially to learn more about available support.

Learners enrolled in jLAB or an approved Jewish day school (i.e., Innovative School of Temple Beth Sholom, Lehrman Day School, etc.) may request a B-Mitzvah date when their child has reached their 10th birthday. Barb Shimansky will have an initial conversation with each family before referring them to the B-Mitzvah Coordinator to discuss availability. Continuous enrollment in jLAB is required to confirm and maintain a date; those learners leaving a Jewish day school setting after 5th grade must enroll and participate in jLAB. Additional details can be found on our B’nei Mitzvah webpage.

Consistent attendance is an essential part of each learner’s experience. Regular participation ensures that learners can fully engage with the material, build on weekly lessons, and remain connected to their class community. For this reason, we expect learners to attend jLAB each week that classes are in session. This is especially critical for learners in grades 5-7 who are enrolled in Hebrew decoding classes!

If a learner will be absent, parents are asked to notify the jLAB office in advance whenever possible so we can inform the teacher and arrange any appropriate make-up work. In cases where we are not notified ahead of time, we may reach out to check in and confirm that everything is okay at home.

We are excited to partner with your family as your child prepares for their B-Mitzvah – an important milestone in Jewish life (but NOT a “graduation” from Jewish learning!). This journey is designed to deepen connection to Jewish tradition, community, and values, while making the experience meaningful and memorable for families.

Throughout the process, families will have opportunities for one-on-one meetings with our clergy, as well as shared learning sessions with other B-Mitzvah families. These experiences help build confidence, strengthen understanding, and create a supportive community along the way.

To support a focused and engaging learning environment, learners are expected to keep cell phones turned off during jLAB hours.

If parents or learners need to reach one another during jLAB, communication can be directed through the jLAB Office at 305-538-7231 or 305-532-4756.

Should a learner need to make an important call, they must first receive permission from the jLAB Office. If a phone becomes a distraction during class, teachers or other members of the jLAB staff may hold the device and return it at the end of the session.

We are committed to supporting the individual needs of every learner in our program and to maintaining a healthy, inclusive learning environment for all.

If your child requires any medical, learning, or other accommodations, please share this information with our office or indicate it on the enrollment form so that we can best support their experience in our program.

All lost-and-found items are collected and stored in the drawers just outside of the education office (across from the fish tank). If learners find items without identifying information, they should bring them directly to the office.

Families are welcome to check the lost-and-found at any time if a learner is missing an item. Please note that we cannot conduct individual searches for lost belongings, so we encourage families to label personal items whenever possible to help ensure they are returned quickly.
