General Election

As summer comes to an end and we enter fall, all eyes are on the 2024 general election, where we will choose our President, a Senator, and our Congressional representatives, along with our state representatives and other important state and local officials. We will also vote on important Florida Constitutional Amendments, including most importantly, whether to enshrine abortion rights in our Constitution through Amendment 4. For the first time in decades, residents of Miami-Dade County will elect a sheriff and supervisor of elections.

Vote by Mail – ALL REGISTERED VOTERS.

You must renew your vote-by-mail ballots in 2024. Even if you have in the past voted by mail, that registration has expired, and you must apply again for all 2024 elections. We urge all voters to order a vote-by-mail ballot even if you plan to vote in person early or on election day. You never know what may happen and it is good to have the mail ballot, even if you ultimately do not use it.

The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the November 5 election is October 24. Apply at miamidade.electionsfl.org/vrservices/mbrs# . All vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Election no later than 7:00 pm on election night. It is suggested that if mailing your ballot, do so at least one week in advance.

Early Voting

In Miami-Dade County, early voting begins on Monday, October 21, and closes on Sunday, November 3. The hours for voting change depending on the day, so check the full calendar before heading out to the polls. You may not vote at these locations on election day unless they are also your local precinct.

On election day, November 5, you may only vote at your assigned precinct as shown on your voter’s registration card. Please check carefully as many precinct locations have changed. Do not forget to bring a picture ID.

You can learn about early voting locations and times, verify that you are registered to vote, read a sample ballot based on your location, find your local polling place, verify receipt of your vote-by-mail ballot, and learn more here: https://www.miamidade.gov/global/elections/home.page

YES ON 4!

TBS is working with RAC-FL and a broad coalition of partners, including Floridians Protecting Freedom, NCJW, Catholics for Choice, Men4Choice and others, on the issue of reproductive freedom. This coalition effort successfully put a citizens-initiated constitutional amendment, now known as Amendment 4, on this November’s ballot. Many of you were a part of this effort as you signed petitions this past year!  If passed, Amendment 4 will protect the rights of Florida citizens to have an abortion. This is especially important since Florida now has a 6-week (essentially a total) abortion ban. This is a bipartisan issue which highlights our rights to make private medical decisions with our doctors and family without governmental interference. Vote YES on Amendment 4 to ensure passage of this amendment!

Here are some ways to get involved:
